Make Her See
“Make Her See" (working title), is a mixed-media short documentary that follows conversations between me, the director, and three female filmmakers (role models) as we navigate paths of meaning and talk about our experiences and roles as female filmmakers of today.
My artistic goal for this project is to produce a mixed media short documentary and doing this by turning a female filmmaker’s social and emotional worlds into artistic materiality (universes). I aim to dramatize the stories of three female filmmakers and thereby visualize complex emotions through the use of mixed media storytelling (which includes the combination of animation and live-action). My aim when doing this is to create a bridge between the interviewees’ social worlds and my own visual worlds, finding an authentic way to visually reflect their stories as artists and female filmmakers in this documentary. The end result will be a mixed media short documentary of high artistic quality that can be screened at international film festivals, viewed in galleries, on TV, and be streamed online.
In June 2020, we received development funding from Midtnorsk Filmsenter. In November 2020, we will be filming/recording the first conversation with the multi-award-winning artist and filmmaker Anita Killi who works from her studio on a farm in Dovre, Norway.
